Obviously selling your table is illegal, being freeware and all, but should you be allowed to benefit from your own hard work? After all, it is your own work. Then again, you can't sell a MS Word because MS owns it, but you can sell a document made with it... food for thought.

You can sell anything! Sometimes you have to hide it in a trench coat until it's time for sale, but....

I don't think it's kosher. I did tables for fun not profit.

I wouldn't plan on doing them for profit, but we did have that guy who almost bought my designs (not the tables themselves) and put them on Android and Smartphone. I say why not? They'll have to be REALLY good to sell in a market of free stuff though.

Selling a layout or graphics sound whatever is gine assuming they were all created by you.
Selling a vp table thats a no no even if its original unless of course its to someone who has licensed vp for a commercial product such as the ultrapin. This is why we cant create stand alone tables with vp.
Over the years though i must admit ive had quite a few offers of money to create specific tables. Taking a donation i think is ok although i never did as i thought it would merrit a responsibility and make my fun hobby a job.
It would be nice to quit my job and just make pinball tables but not possible unless i wrre to design my own engine to do so in

Excuse me if I'm wrong, which I'm not, but if you want to sell stuff, do it on e-bay or etsy, or create a web page specifically designed for said purpose. Don't do it through some board like this. All it will do is piss people off and we don't need another situation like at VPF! Instead of wanting to profit for your own pocket sake, make for charitable contributions such as The American Cancer Foundation, St. Judes Hospital, or for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. (and no, not some stupid, childish pinball addicts site) Y'all claim that making these is fun, and a hobby and that you aren't looking for profit....then make them for charity. Rukia

I've been asked by (too) many people if they can donate money for my vp work. Always said I don't want money for my hobby. If I wanted more money I'd use the time on my real job. What they offered is like peanut money anyway considering I put in maybe 100h for a table recreation, that's close to USD 25000 just for the time i spend on it.

Yeah, but if it's something you're going to do anyway... I could use friends like those. ;D

Rukia we cannot even give the money to charity for to sell the vp editor is the big no-no here! it is freeware and to sell it is piracy! and Itch you say you can sell a MS doc, but not a pin. that is due to the fact that the pins NEED vp to run where as any MS doc can be read by itself (stand alone) so to run a pin one needs that (freeware) program that we call vp9 so unless you can make a pin that does NOT need the editor to run we are 'stuck' at giving them away
