Personally, I know he puts a lot of work into the place, but I'm kind of on the fence about it. It looks a bit busy and more complicated. If you had problems navigating the board before this will be even harder. I'm not trying to detract from his effort in any way. That was just my first impression.

To be honest, once I saw it I had a heart attack. What the heck happened? Looks totally strange. I think the older version was much better personally.

Essentially from what I understand, their version of the software was no longer supported, so they HAD to upgrade. But if you have to anyway, why not try to improve. I'm a creature of habit, I liked the old design, but that's just me. Being that it was no longer supported, he didn't have much of a choice anyway.
Edit: Looks better now after I've logged in, maybe I was too quick this morning. I'm still a creature of habit, but it doesn't seem so bad now.

Just wish it had the active topics on the front page like the old forum. It was much easier then searching each subforum for recent posts

So many forums! So many things goin' on!
Woe to anyone who gets distracted IRL for even a few days ... when they come back on the scene, they find EVERYTHING has CHANGED!!!
Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore!!
(Is it me, or did the Wicked Witch Of The West slip some acid into my lemonade? These emotes are strange ....)
Seriously ...
The new VPF looks nice. So much work has gone into it. Gonna take time just to learn my way around there anymore. Unfortunately, workload spiking at 65 hrs/wk ... not much gameroom time anymore ...

I added some new ones and replaced some (not with monkeys lol). Some are borrowed from BBB Chat, and some are from Rascal's (stolen). We also have a different imagehost (ImageUpper) as Imageshack you had to log into to use. These two you can use without an account.

well I liked the older vpf.org but change is good I guess I also by accident linked into what I thought was a new post only to find it was from '09! And slowly but surely I am getting the hang of navigating around in it

I'm not averse to change but not all change is for the good [and from what I understand it had to be changed anyway for technical reasons]. Whether the site will cater for my needs anymore IDK. Don't much like the current feel to it, but who knows with time.
The site has certainly adopted a more commercial entity now when compared to the original setting up of VPF.org. It was in those early days I found a more relaxed place based on the development of VP and a home to socializing with friends. But now the cabinet builders are king and I for one am not moving in that direction.
The non-amicable split with chat has had a considerable impact too on those whom I consider my closest friends/cyber buddies - so sadly VPF is not cutting it with me at the moment. Very unhappy about the animosity around it and the alienation of my friends; but that's life! Not everybody agrees with everybody else and with every story there are at least two-sides to it.
Mini-comment over. 10.4 big buddy.

I'm not really crazy about it myself, but he said he had to upgrade, so I guess he had no choice. I really haven't been back in a while as I have no idea where things are.

I do agree the cab builders are starting to take over vpf many of the newerposts and ideas are for the cabs but I will always stick with making my 4:3 pins for standard monitors since that is what I will always use

Not being a skilled or speedy typist, I often previewed my reply post only to find that I was no longer logged in, and occasionally lost all I HAD typed when I used the BACK button after logging back in (before I noticed the highlight-and-copy suggestion for saving my text). As VPF-O enters Day 21 of the upgrade, there are a few things yet to be corrected (such as being sent to post #1 of a 2009 topic, instead of the first unread post---happens only a small percentage of the time, though) but not once has my logged-in status been interrupted or 'forgotten'. Life is good.
We must keep in mind that Noah doesn't have access to the radioactive water of the planet Scalos (Star Trek Original Series episode #66, "Wink of an Eye") and must therefore 'repair the ship' at an unaccelerated rate.
Cheers
